Add LDF file to Vectorworks

If you are seeing a dialog with the error message "License validation failed" upon first starting Vectorworks, it means there is still a file missing from the Vectorworks user directory that reads your serial number, called the LDF file.

You can add this file by following the steps below:

Vectorworks with Service Select, rental license or Education license

1. Log in to the Vectorworks Customer Portal or Student Portal .
2. Go to the tab ‘Licenses’
3. Click on the download icon next to the serial number, the .ldf file will be downloaded.
4. Open Vectorworks and the error dialog will reappear.
5. Click on 'Provide LDF…'.
6. Browse to the desired .- file, and click ‘Open’.

Evaluation License and Vectorworks without Service Select

1. Contact the Vectorworks support team and ask for your personal .ldf file. Please clearly indicate which serial number you are currently working with (4 blocks with 6 characters each). 
2. Open Vectorworks and the error dialog will reappear.
3. Click on 'Provide LDF…'.
4. Browse to the desired .ldf file, and click ‘Open’.
